ACT 2013-14 Budget Snapshot

ACTCOSS acknowledges Canberra has been built on the land of the Ngunnawal people. We pay respects to their Elders and recognise the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and ongoing contribution to the ACT community, especially the Community Sector.

provides justice and equity for all

• Strength of employment• 0.25 per cent growth = harder to get and keep a job

• Changes in costs of living• 2.25 per cent inflation = income support and low

wage jobs don’t keep up

• Sustainability of revenue to government• Tax reform = increased revenue certainty• Public sector contracting = reduced confidence and

activity

Priorities for Investment

• Schools, primary care, family support and health and disability care

• Prevention and early intervention to reduce demand for crisis, acute and tertiary services
