Session Allocation Principles

• To maximise emergency surgery to within hours

• To separate emergency from elective procedures

• Ensure sessions are fully booked and usage of surgical beds is

optimised.

• Speciality and General sub-speciality elective lists will be identified

and planned in consideration of existing resources i.e. radiology.

Intensive care, to ensure optimal patient care and avoid clash of

resources.

• Endeavour to separate Same-Day from Multiday Elective &

Emergency by specialty.
