Getting to know your Cisco SPA 301 IP Phone
ThankyouforchoosingtheCiscoSPA300SeriesIPPhone.ThisguidedescribeshowtophysicallyinstallyourCiscoSPA300SeriesIPPhoneandhowtoperformsomebasictasks.
Makesurethatyourinternettelephonyserviceisconfiguredandactive.Forexample,yourphonewillberegisteredtoadevice,suchasaCiscoUnifiedCommunications500Seriesorathird-partyapplicationserver,thatprovidesyourphoneservice.

Installing the Cisco SPA 301 IP Phone
Step 1 Turnthephonebodyovertoexpose theportsonthebackoftheunit.
Step 2 Insertthelongendofthephonecord intothehandsetportonthephone bodythatismarkedwithaphone symbol(labelled2).
Step 3 Inserttheotherendofthephonecordintotheportatthebottomofthereceiver.
Step 4 Connectyourphonetothenetwork usingoneofthemethodsbelow:
• Using an Ethernet connectionInsertoneendoftheEthernetcableintothenetworkportonthephonebodymarked‘WAN’(labelled3).
InserttheotherendoftheEthernetcableintotheappropriatedevice,suchasanetworkswitch,onyournetwork.
• Using a wireless connectionYoucanuseaCiscoWBP54GWireless-GBridgewiththeIPphonetocreateawirelessconnectionbetweenthephoneandthenetwork.SeetheWBP54Gdocumentationonwww.cisco.comformoreinformation.
Step 5 Insertoneendofthepowercord intoanoutletandinserttheotherendofthepowercordintothepowerportonthephonebody(labelled1).
NB TopowerthephonethroughtheEthernet connection,usetheoptionalCiscoPOES5

7 Messagesbutton Pressrepeatedlytoincreasethevolumeofthehandset(whenthereceiverisoffthehook)orringervolume(whenthereceiverisinplace).
8 Holdbutton Presstoaccessvoicemail(mustbesetupbyyourphonesystemadministrator).
9 Set-upbutton Presstoaccessamenutoconfigurefeaturesandpreferences(suchasyourdirectoryandspeeddials),accessyourcallhistory,andsetupfunctions(suchascallforwarding).
10 Mutebutton Presstomuteorunmutethephone.Whenthephoneismuted,thebuttonglowsred.Aflashingmutebuttonindicatesthenetworkconnectioncannotbefound.
11 Headsetbutton Pushtoturntheheadsetonoroff.Whentheheadsetison,thebuttonglowsgreen.
12 Volumebutton Press'+'toincreasethevolumeand'-'tolowerthevolumeofthehandset,headset,speaker(whenthereceiverisoffthephone),orringervolume(whenthereceiverisonthephone).
13 Speakerbutton Pushtoturnthespeakeronoroff.Whenthespeakerison,thebuttonglowsgreen.
14 Keypad Usetodialphonenumbers,enterlettersandchoosemenuitems.
Line key colour codes
Green-LineisidleRed (steady)-LineisactiveorinuseRed (blinking)-LineisonholdOrange-Lineisunregisteredandcannotbeused
Note - Linekeycoloursdependonyourphonesystemandcanvary.
Thesekeyscanalsobeprogrammedbyyourphonesystemadministratortoperformfunctionssuchasspeeddial,callpickup,ormonitoringandextension.

Step 1 Turnthephonebodyovertoexposetheports onthebackoftheunit.

Step 3 (Optional)Routethephonecordthrough thecableslot(labelled4).
Step 4Inserttheotherendofthephonecordintotheportatthebottomofthereceiver.
Step 5 Connectthephonestandbyliningupthe tabsonthestandwiththeslotsonthephone body.Slidethebottomtabsintothelower slotsonthephonebody(labelled1)and lightlypressdownonthestand.Itshould easilyslideintotheupperstandslots.

Step 6 Connectyourphonetothenetworkusing oneofthemethodsbelow:

Step 7 Insertoneendofthepowercordintoan outletandinserttheotherendofthe powercordintothepowerportonthe phonebody(labelled6).NB TopowerthephonethroughtheEthernet connection,usetheoptionalCiscoPOES5

Step 8 (Optional)Toprovidenetworkaccessto aPC,connectoneendofanadditional Ethernetcable(notprovided)tothePC portonthebackofthephonebody (labelled2).Connecttheotherendofthe Ethernetcabletothenetworkporton

Usethesestepstoinstallthephoneandconnectittoyournetwork.

Afteryourphoneissuccessfullyconnectedtothenetworkandreceivesabasicconfiguration,youshouldhearadialtonewhenpickingupthereceiverorpressingthespeakerphonebutton,andyourphonelinekeysshouldglowgreen(dependingonyourphonesystem).
Using your IP phone
Placing or answering calls
Pickupthereceiveranddial(SPA301/303),orpressthespeakerorheadsetbutton(SPA303).
Putting a call on hold
Toputacallonhold,presstheFlash(SPA301)orHold(SPA303)button.Thecallerhearsaseriesofthreerapidbeepsormusicwhileonhold.Toresumethecall,pressFlash(SPA301)ortheflashingredlinebuttonforthecall(SPA303).
Ending a call
Ifyouareusingthereceiver,hangup(SPA301/303).Ifyouareusingthespeakerphonefunction(SPA303),pressthespeakerbutton.Ifyouareusingtheheadset(SPA303),presstheheadsetbutton.
