AO1 CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING

This submission reflected the candidate’s personal interest in and awareness of contemporary

culture. She explored the relationship between dance music and fashion, specifically the

underground styles of Voguing and street dance. Ideas were clearly connected to her contextual

sources showing an understanding and appreciation of the designers’ work. This understanding

was further endorsed through her extended written element, presented in the form of an essay.

Further evaluation of her personal outcome would have strengthened the relationship between all

aspects of her submission.

AO2 CREATIVE MAKING

A range of processes and materials had been explored and manipulated such as lacing, stitching

and bonding. Idea development showed progression with due regard being given to the

penultimate stages of development through the inclusion of fashion illustrations. Some

discrimination was shown when reviewing ideas resulting in a well resolved final outcome.

AO3 REFLECTIVE RECORDING

Due attention was given to the selection of appropriate reference materials. Some lively sketches

based on figures dancing were apparent as well as linear drawings based on sound frequencies.

Annotation helped to clarify ideas and intentions.

AO4 PERSONAL PRESENTATION

This was a personal and creative response in which the candidate realised her intentions. The

final outcome had a clear purpose and would work effectively as dance costume.
