(JEFF)

General background of the Orange County Council

Council Introduction: provide a quick snapshot (history, size, camps, districts, membership, trends, etc.)

4

BACKGROUND(JEFF)

What was the backdrop which prompted your council to look at Chartered Organizations? To consider a focus on Religious Organizations?

Background to the FBI initiative

Membership goals? Changes in membership trends? Percent of chartered organizations in faith based organizations? Changes in board leadership?

Was there an “aha” moment?

5

THE BEGINNING(JEFF)

Trace the journey:

When did you first consider a faith based initiative? How did you decide to go this route? Who was involved? What was the board’s perspective?

Talk specifically about the Board retreat (when did this happen?) and how the new Strategic Alliances staff position came about.

For other councils that are listening, what pieces need to be in place for them to consider a similar plan to target faith based organizations?

6

CULTURE SHIFT(JEFF)

When were you aware that you were in essence doing a culture shift and changing the way you went about doing membership?

Sponsor vs chartered partner

Eradicate “Parents Of” Units

First recruit the Chartered Organization and volunteers, then recruit the boys (Use 12 Steps)
