Parks are embedded in a larger regional and continental landscape; connectivity across these broader landscapes is essential for system resilience over time to support animal movements, gene flow, and response to cycles of natural disturbance

Goal: Understand, shape and share policies at all levels of government that promote connectivity across the landscape.

Targeted Landscape Strategies:On-the-Ground Project Support

• Work is stakeholder driven

• Portfolios being developed for each area describing: The State of Ecological Connectivity in each Focal Area

• Support for local work that incorporate principals of Landscape Conservation Design

Targeted Landscape Strategies:Connectivity Data Atlas

• Data library available on Databasin

• Over 100 datasets all of which is related to connectivity in region

• Primers for each focal connectivity area are in development

• Identifies data gaps

Human Modification for the Transboundary Region

Targeted Landscape Strategies:Connectivity HUB

• A database with information about WHAT tools being used to create connectivity in focal areas and WHO is doing the work and WHERE are actions taking place.

• An actions tool that serves two purposes:� Tool for practitioners to network and find resources to guide connectivity planning� A database of conservation actions used to measure progress towards goals of this GNLCC

The strategies above are carried out through:

• Stakeholder Engagement to ensure we are meeting Goal 5

• Facilitation and Coordination of project through Leadership Team guidance and coordinated place based actions

Goal 5: Maintain large functional landscapes where people and local communities, including tribesand First Nations, can sustain their livelihoods, stories,

culture and identity supported by the landsand waters and fish and wildlife they steward

The Connectivity Strategy Looking Forward:

• support local place based work in Focal Areas

• provide tools and science support to practioners

• leadership team will continue to provide leadership through communication and collaboration

• assess and coordinate policy

• link place based work to larger strategy through workshops, gatherings and communications
