OSCARS 2015 CONTENDER SERIES PART II

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

OSCARS 2015

In anticipation of the nominations being announced for the 87th Academy Awards next Thursday (15th January), we are taking a look at some of the Oscar contenders this year.

What follows is a summary of some of the main names being mentioned across trade publications, social media and blogs.

Today we spotlight those who could be in contention for Best Supporting Actor…

J. K. SIMMONS – ‘Whiplash’

Simmons has had a very successful few months and is sure to be nominated. Likely to pick up the gong in February as well.

ROBERT DUVALL – ‘The Judge’

Duvall’s performance in ‘The Judge’ was well liked, and nominations at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards should see him get the nod.

ETHAN HAWKE – ‘Boyhood’

‘Boyhood’ could well dominate the Oscars this year and Hawke may be a strong part of that.

EDWARD NORTON – ‘Birdman’

Norton has picked up strong recognition in the past few months and, like his co-stars, is highly likely to feature.

MARK RUFFALO – ‘Foxcatcher’

Ruffalo had been an early frontrunner post-Cannes and has done well to keep momentum up to this point. Not a certain, but should feature.

JOSH BROLIN – ‘Inherent Vice’

This is a dark horse, but Brolin’s performance is one of his best and very popular. Could sneak in.

CHRISTOPH WALTZ – ‘Big Eyes’

Waltz was recently nominated for a Golden Globe which would certainly help his case, and his recent success at the Oscars make him a decent outside bet.

WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED OUR RUN THROUGH.LET US KNOW WHO YOU THINK

WILL GET THE NOD! @DDAPR
