Tavria’s 25th Festival was a Big Success!
This event was held on March 17, 18 & 19, 2017. Thank you to everyone who helped
celebrate the Festival 25th Anniversary. We had 18 schools register, and over 600
dancers participate. We haven’t had a festival this large in quite a few years, so the
participation was fantastic.
The founder of Tavria, Marie Nychka, was our adjudicator. She brought a wealth of
knowledge and perfection to our Festival. Marie ensured that her marks were con-
sistent and worthy of the performance. She marked hard, so when you received a
gold, you knew you deserved it! Marie also reminded us that the basics of dance
are the foundation, and needed to perform more challenging steps in the advanced
ages.
Congratulations to the Tavria classes that performed at Festival. You are the future
of Ukrainian dance and our culture in Saskatchewan. The Devin Howat Memorial
Trophy, Highest Mark Tavria, was presented to the Intermediate 1 & 2 Pryvit with a
mark of 91 Gold! The Solo Trophy was presented to Henry Kozun, and choreo-
graphed by Ivanna Knoll. In addition to the trophy, the soloist and their choreogra-
pher received $100 each.
A really big thank you is extended to everyone who volunteered and made the
weekend a success. From the organizing committee who created the Festival, to
the Ensemble who worked tirelessly backstage and downstairs, to the parents who
worked various positions throughout the days, without your help, we could not have
had a Festival of this magnitude.
We have Festival t-shirts available for sale. They are in the Tavria boardroom.
Each shirt is $10. We also have water bottles and cinch sacks available too. Water
bottles are $15 each or 2 for $25. The cinch sacks are $10 each.
Thank you again for helping with Festival. What a great way to celebrate our 25th!

Festival Chairperson
A BIG thank you to the Festival Chairperson, Carolyn
Warnyca-Griffin and her committee for a great job!

CREDITS—How it works…..
1. All levels of dance can earn credits on certain fundraisers.
2. All levels of dance earn credits for perogie sales.
3. Credits can be used towards out of town festival registration fees.
4. Credits can be saved and used for future group trips or they can be used to-
wards fees for the next year. (This does not include festivals where the whole
school attends.)
5. Credits earned in the current dance year can be used for fees for the following
dance year, only if 25% of the total year dance fees are available
for example, fees for the year are $400, you mush have $100 in credits
from the previous year; and,
The $100 in credits would then be deducted from your total fees for the
current year, and be deducted from your final payments if paid monthly,
or from the total, if paid yearly.
6. Bingo credits—after you have worked your required bingos for the dance year,
you may sign up as an extra for future bingo
these extra bingos worked are then credits for your dancer, which can be
used for bingos required next dance year, future group trips (this does not
include festivals where the whole school attends), or you can use them to-
wards fees for the next year’s fees (only if 25% of fees are available).
7. Credits cannot be transferred to other dancers if a dancer quits—credits can
only be transferred between siblings.
8. If a dancer quits, credits remain for 1 year, if the dancer returns then they still
have their credits, if the dancer doesn’t return after 1 year, the credits are
converted to the school.

Last order for 2017 due: May 7, 2017
Absolutely under no circumstances will late orders be accepted!!
They affect the entire order including the delivery date.
You can buy perogies/cabbage rolls for yourself and take orders for other individuals. In either case, YOU ARE THE SELLER.
Your dancer will earn credits that can be used for future trips.
Order forms are available in the lobby.
Ensure your order is placed correctly and on time. You are responsible for tracking your own buyers’ orders. Total up all
your orders onto the Order Form. Make sure you check your addition and calculations before submitting your order. Pay-
ment must accompany your order - no exceptions, ie: no orders by fax, phone, or email. PLEASE, your co-operation in this
area will make the co-ordinator's job easier.
Please complete all the information as to your child's class level so that proper credits can be ensured. If the proper infor-
mation is not provided there is no guarantee that your child will receive a credit even if they are entitled to one.
Completed order forms and payment should be placed in the mailbox which is located in the conference room, in a sealed
envelope and labeled "Perogie Order - Attention: Duane" Cheques payable to Tavria.
Note: Any orders not received by the due date will be processed on the next due date. Any "add-ons" to an existing order
must be submitted on a separate order form with the required payment and must be received by the due date to be included
in the same order.
Delivery of the order is approximately three to four weeks after the due date, depending on the volume. After the order is
sorted, a notice will be posted in the studio lobby indicating that the orders are ready for pickup and a telephone call or an
e-mail might be sent. The bags will be marked with the seller's name and the number of total bags in your order.
Pick-up Procedure! The freezers are located in a locked storage room. You can ask your child’s instructor to unlock the door,
as all of the instructors have a key to the storage room.
Hello Tavria Parents!
Tavria dancers have an opportunity to partici-pate in a really fun FlapJack Fundraiser. Here’s how it works: The tickets will be sold ahead of
time by dancers. Tickets are $14 with $10 going to Tavria. Applebee’s restaurant will open their doors just for Tavria on Saturday, May 6th for 2 hrs: 8am - 10am. The
event takes place at Applebee's on Quance Street. The restaurant will make the food and wash the dishes. All we have to do is serve plates of food and pour coffee and
breakfast drinks. This is also an opportunity to allow the younger dancers to participate and have their 1st chance to volunteer. If you are able to carry plates of food to the tables, host people to their seats and pour coffee then this is the fundraiser for you! (we are recommending that the dancers are Intermediate 2 and up). No one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the kitchen. But younger children are permitted to carry plates and host. (Parents might need to support their younger dancers if they want to participate). Volunteers can start arriving at 7:30. If there are enough volunteers we may not need all to stay for the whole two hours. The tickets will be available in the office and a volunteer list will be posted in the studio. These are not usual business hours and therefore they open just for the fundraising function. We can sell up to 150 tickets ( I hope we sell out). If you have any questions please email Jalyn at zborowskij@hotmail.com or Natasha at natashafrentz@gmail.com This is a wonderful way to come out support the organization, socialize and volunteer in two short hours early on a Saturday morning and have the rest of your weekend free. We hope to see everyone coming out.
SAVE THE DATE!!!! Tavria’s 1st Adult Only PAINT NITE will be
held on Friday, May 12, 2017, 7pm. Tickets are $45.
Space is limited, so sign up right away. https://www.paintnite.com/
events/1170861 This is open to Tavria families and friends, not the public. Kids
Paint Nite will be held soon.
The Tavria Ukrainian Dance School has decided to do a Dairy Queen Cake Fundraiser. The fundraiser will go for the next 3 weeks, and all order forms and money must be returned by Saturday, April 8, 2017. Forms have been
