EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD APRIL 21, 2019
My Dear Parishioners,
Praised Be Jesus Christ! Happy Easter! The Lord is Risen; He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!
Today, we awaken to a new mystery, a new reality, a new wonder; all of which has ramificaon on human life, itself. For the tomb that held the corpse of Jesus is now empty; His corpse is no longer a corpse but a risen, living body, Jesus Himself; His Victory over death is apparent to all as He joyfully appears to His friends inving them to believe.
My Friends, the Resurrecon of Jesus Christ is the heart of Chrisan Faith. And it is that reality that we will celebrate for the next 50 days. This is a me to relate to, receive and rejoice in the revelaon that we now see: the love of the Father for his Son, the Father’s power over death and His Faithfulness to His creaon. In a world that so oen says “NO”, the Father has said “YES” and we are set free!
We welcome into the Catholic Faith two new members who were received into the Church last evening: Bikki and Bob. In addion, we welcome Frank who having been bapzed as a child is now a fully iniated Catholic Chrisan. I thank all those who have assisted them in this journey especially their spouses and families and all on our RCIA Team. They are signs to us that God is Alive and His beauful Work connues.
Tomorrow evening, I embark on our Jubilee Pilgrimage with 23 of our parishioners for Ireland, the land of our patron. Be sure of our prayers for you as we travel through the holy places and enjoy the history that St. Patrick helped to form. This is my first trip to Ireland and I’m looking forward to seeing the sights. We will have Mass each day in many of the sacred shrines including Knock where our Blessed Mother appeared. We will pray each day our Parish Jubilee Prayer and bring that missionary spirit of St. Patrick home. Perhaps, we can even be a blessing to Ireland. I’ll be posng photos of our journey on our parish Facebook page, follow along and keep us in prayer.
Next weekend, we welcome to our parish Fr. Charles Kennedy. Father Kennedy at one me lived here at our parish when he worked with the Hispanic Community. He is now rered and speaks at various places about Fr. Chuck’s Challenge: a missionary outreach that he will share with you. I’m grateful to Father for his being with us and sharing the Good News.
Finally, we are just two weeks away from our move. REMEMBER: MAY 11/12 is our first week in the High School: MASS SCHEDULE 5PM VIGIL; 7:30, 9 and 11 AM Masses in the High School.
Happy Easter Everyone!
Peace,
Fr. Rogers

FATHER CHUCK’S CHALLENGE
Next weekend, Fr. Charles Kennedy will be speaking at all our Masses. He represents Father Chuck’s Challenge, an iniave celebrang the memory and ministry of Father Charles Pfeffer, a deceased beloved priest of our Archdiocese.
Over the last twelve years, with lots of help from the Holy Spirit, donors to Father Chuck’s Challenge have provided more than 1,200 homes for desperately poor beneficiaries, previously liv-ing fearfully, virtually homeless, in plasc and plank shelters, in an area frequently ravished by tropical storms-in the Northern Highlands of Nicaragua and in hurricane ravaged Hai. But hun-dreds more need help of all kinds.
Informaon is available on our website

This includes a video on our trip to Hai this year

At this me of the year we give an invitaon to the members of our parish to consider becoming a catechist in our parish. Perhaps you know someone who is thinking about becoming a catechist or perhaps you would
like to consider the possibility yourself. Here is a list of some top reasons to say “yes” to our invite.
1. You will grow in your own faith, learn the teachings of the church, and deepen your relaonship with Jesus.
2. Children, teens, and adults in today’s world, more than ever, need to hear the Good News of Jesus.
3. You have much to share with those you’ll teach and you’ll have opportunies to share faith with other catechists.
4. What a wonderful way to serve our Lord!
We are in need of persons to teach Sunday levels K, 4, 6 and Monday level 5.
Please contact Marianne Kane at 610-444-2214 for more infor-maon.

REMEMBER WHEN?
One of the main industries in Kennett Square in the ear-ly 1900’s was milk production, including condensed milk. Chocolate and white milk were delivered in crates for lunch at school by the dairies, and the eighth grade boys would deliver milk to each classroom.
DID YOU KNOW? Aer five years at St. Charles, Dennis Dougherty was sent to connue his studies in Rome,
where he earned his Doctorate in Sacred Theology in 1890. He was also ordained that year in St. John Lateran. Aer ordinaon he returned to Philadelphia to teach Greek, Lan, French, Hebrew and Dogmac Theology at St. Charles. In 1903 he was named bishop of the Diocese of Nueva Segovia in the Philippines. In 1908 he transferred to the Diocese of Jaro, also in the Philippines. Aer serving for twelve years as a bishop in the Philippines he re-turned to the U.S., where he was named bishop of Buffalo, New York in 1915. (To be connued.)
