Theatre Arts Camp – Showdown at Sock Ridge (grades 3-12) All ability levels welcome. No previous experience required. All campers must schedule an audition for placement purposes.*About the 2018 show: Welcome to the sleepy little town of Sock Ridge, Wyoming! Sheriff “Kitt” Kittridge just wants to make it through 1862 without a major incident and head out for Oregon with a full pension, but the railroad is coming through and some ambitious fool went and found gold in the nearby hills. Deputy Dagget lost the key to the only jail cell, the ranchers are annoyed at the farmers, the farmers are annoyed at the townies, the townies are annoyed at the settlers, and everyone seems to be annoyed at Sheriff Kitt for some reason. And to top it all off, there are rumors that both infamous robber-baron J.P. Sockafella AND notorious nuisance the Somnambulant Kid are heading to town. It’s enough to give a poor civil servant a Texas-sized headache.
Every year, more than 75 area students join The Fine Arts Association for this unique musical theatre experience. This fun, interactive camp engages campers in the theatrical aspects of music, dance, theatre and visual arts. Classes and rehearsals are designed as lessons in acting methods, dance techniques/composition, and voice/music skills. Camp culminates with a fully staged ticketed production the final weekend of camp with the script and songs tailored especially for the talents of the campers.
Camp tuition includes 2 comp ticket vouchers for choice of one culminating performance and a special 2018 camp t-shirt.
Campers should bring lunch and water bottle (vending machine with snack type foods and beverages also available).
