2017 MEDIA KIT
Since 2002, InTheBite, LLC
“In The Bite” is a term used by professional boat captains to describe fishing results by how many “bites” are produced on any given day.
The InTheBite brand is committed to providing timely news and useful content to professional captains, boat owners, crew and anglers. Our direct, no frills approach is full of substance and straight from the horse’s mouth.
“As a company building boats for over 50 years, we value the owners who purchase our products and the captains who operate them. We know our investment in InTheBite complements our mission by branding our company as part of this highly targeted demographic.”— Pat Healey, President of Viking Yachts and InTheBite Advertiser since 2003
Why Advertise with InTheBite?r A professional captain is to a $2 million fishing investment
what a Charles Schwab advisor is to an investment portfolio.r InTheBite is a niche magazine targeting the professional
bluewater sportfishing community.r Those who hire professional captains and crews
are greatly influenced by their expertise.r A captain’s budget is the boat’s budget.r Print magazines are read on boats.r Print magazines experience long shelf lives
aboard boats.r InTheBite’s magazine content doesn’t expire.r A copy of InTheBite magazine is found on
most bluewater boatsr InTheBite is distributed to more tournaments
than any other magazine.

The InTheBite Captain of the Year Cup(COTYC) Program is the only program of its
kind where your business can be a part of over 100 of the most prestigious InTheBite COTYC sanctioned big game events around the world, both directly and indirectly. The five-division format, Gulf Coast US, East Coast US, Florida, Hawaii and International, means that your investment will effectively reach a very wide swath of the avid bluewater sportfishing market segment.
How it works: The annual Captain of the Year Cup provides an annual points race for captains as they compete in big game tournaments around the world. Currently there are 100 tournaments that are sanctioned as InTheBite, COTYC Events. There will be a Captain of the Year for each of the five geographic divisions.
What sponsorship provides: This is an outstanding opportunity to reach the avid sportfishing team starting with the captain but also including the owner and crew. As this award becomes even more competitive, it will generate significant publicity in a variety of outlets including print, online/web, social media and on the docks around the world.
When: We provide the opportunity to utilize our print publication, InTheBite, our website at www.inthebite.com, our social media outlets on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and emerging technologies including mobile media so this is a “24/7 365” marketing blitz.
Why: Although this is a Captain of the Year award, we also understand that each boat is a team of several different parts and will also be followed by industry peers such as marine manufacturers, crew, friends and family as scores are cumulated on an annual basis.
Statistics■ InTheBite, The Professionals’ Magazine has been publishing for over
13 years with an average circulation of 8,000 (includes subscriptionand newsstand sales).
■ The original Captain of the Year award has been in existence for over10 years, with a strong track record of past winners who have madea significant impact in the sportfishing industry.
■ The Captain of the Year Cup is a result of the award’s expansionto accommodate worldwide geographical demand.
■ Over 2,000 sportfishing teams will be included from the 100-plussanctioned events (avg. 20 boats x 100 events).
■ Each tournament team has an average of 6-9 members, not includingfamily members, friends and other interested spectators.
■ Over 10,000 individual participants who fish or work on a participatingboat will be following the points race throughout the season.
■ It’s a fact that captains and crew who choose sportfishing as a career dir- ectly influence boat owner’s buying decisions. Boat owners may enter and
leave sportfishing but the captains and crews remain consistent over time. ■ Branding your company with the InTheBite Captain of the Year Cup
is just plain good business!
