HNS Quick Hits 2017 Road Show

RIS Parent Program•October 15 deadline for Parents to complete on-line parent course.•Updates from HNS office to be sent Oct. 22 and Nov 19.•Contact Sarah Holman at the HNS if you have any questions or concerns.

CRC/CARC

• December 1 deadline to remain coaching. Removed from bench until complete after that.• Each MHA, FHA may have one

designated Risk Management officer who can review checks and forward copies to HNS via fax or email for entry to HCR.

HCR Data• Dates everything has to be entered in HCR according to HNS

Regulation 5.10

In Minor Hockey all players and team officials in the Atom AA, Peewee AAA, Bantam AA, and Midget AA must be registered on rosters approved by the Regional Director prior to participating in any game prior to October 15th .

The Registration date for all other divisions/teams excluding Initiation and Novice is October 31st. The Registration date for Initiation and Novice is November 15th . The final date to register a team to be eligible for Minor Provincial Championships is December 1st . In all cases, rosters must be entered into the HCR before any league game.

HNS Spring Coaching Symposium

• Details TBD, but will happen in May-June 2018.• Each MHA/FHA will have one reserved spot.• Male and Female Coaches• Competitive focus, will have another one for

grass roots in future.• Will have special guest coaches• 2 days, gift and resources• $50 Max Registration fee.

Day of Champions

• April 6-8, 2018• Rath Eastlink Centre, Truro, NS• Minor games Friday, April 6 & Saturday April 7• Female games Sunday April 8

Multisport Campaign• Sport NS – Hockey NS – Soccer NS• To educate parents, coaches, athletes and

public on benefits of Multisport participation and the dangers of early sport specialization.

•MARCH 15—RECONCILIATION SHEET IS DUE. HNS WILL COMPLETE RECONCILIATION AND IF ANY AMOUNT IS OWED YOU WILL BE INVOICED, AND IF ANY AMOUNT IS REFUNDED, A REFUND WILL BE ISSUED. (ALL WITHIN A 1 MONTH PERIOD)

HNS Female Coach Position

• New position for HNS in conjunction with Sport Nova Scotia and Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic.

• 3 year position, possibility of renewal• Full-time • Work with Female Coaches• Develop a Female Coach recruitment plan• Work with Female Coaches on grassroots growth of

Female Hockey• Support existing HNS Female programs• Hoping to have in place by end of November
