“It was one of my Australian friends who
recommended I study at Sydney TAFE because of its reputation in
the Fitness industry. Whether or not I decide to stay here in Australia or return
to Switzerland,
if I want to turn my personal interest in fitness and sport into
a career then I need a strong technical foundation.
Sydney TAFE is definitely giving me that.”

University Foundation Program Sydney TAFE’s approach Our University Foundation Program is very flexible; you choose the subjects most relevant to you and your further study plans:
> Semester one subjects provide the opportunity for students to develop their research skills, essay and report writing skills, and seminar presentation skills.
> Semester two subjects focus on Australian culture, politics and economics – providing international students with a thorough introduction to Australia’s academic system and the Academic English skills and knowledge required to succeed at an Australian university.
One-year course. The University Foundation Program takes half the time of the two-year school-based program. Plus students only need to complete three subjects for an ATAR Australian university ranking.
Free tutorial support. Students have assistance in all subject areas.
Assessment throughout the year. Students’ skills and knowledge are assessed on a continual and holistic basis with regular feedback in small groups. For most subjects, there are no final exams.
Our University Foundation Program reputationDeveloped over more than 25 years in conjunction with universities, Sydney TAFE’s University Foundation Program has established an excellent reputation. Teachers are highly qualified with postgraduate diplomas, masters and PhDs in education.
As well as the Australian university system, our University Foundation Program is recognised by both the Australian Government and private organisations.

Hospitality Work Placement Program If you enrol in a hospitality course, certificate III level (or above), you can participate in a work placement program with one of our top-tier hotel and restaurant partners including Sofitel, Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre at Darling Harbour, Hilton, Swissotel, Compass Group at Sydney Town Hall, Sheraton and the Holiday Inn.
Our reputable and ethical industry partners offer genuine ‘shadowing roles’ – so you know you’ll be working alongside other employees, not replacing them on their shifts.
Sydney TAFE has agreements in place with each industry partner to ensure the fair treatment of all students and the program complies with current workplace safety and standard conditions. The total number of shifts in the program is limited to eight. If an industry partner wants to offer more shifts – and they often do - they must formally hire and pay that student.
Note: students must apply and be formally interviewed by Sydney TAFE’s Hospitality section to ensure they are work-ready before they may join an industry partner.
Post-study work rights In 2013, the Australian government made changes to the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa, introducing new post-study work rights for graduates of a bachelors, masters or doctoral degree.
Every international student graduating from a qualifying program now has the opportunity to stay in Australia and work for up to four years.
If you wish to take advantage of this visa arrangement and work in Australia after graduation, industry-related work experience is essential. Work experience demonstrates to an Australian employer a student’s initiative and expertise - valuable assets when competing for a job interview.
Global connections With international study tours*, overseas internships and over 2,500 international students studying along-side local students, Sydney TAFE really values our global connections.
*Our study tours are subject to conditions. These change from year to year and additional fees and charges may apply.

“I’d worked in sales and marketing for a
couple of years in China, but I’d never actually studied marketing – I
wanted to deeply study and understand the field I’d grown to love working in.
I chose Sydney TAFE because it’s a government school with
a great reputation and the right price for me.
My teachers are very helpful and the campus is modern, it has
everything I need.”

I have to say I am in love with this multicultural place, it’s an
exciting experience.”
