STEP 1:DEVELOPMENT PROCESS PILOT COURSE ‘HYPERTENSIVE DISORDERS IN PREGNANCY’

STEP 1. ESTABLISHMENT OF COURSE TOPICS AND

LEARNING OBJECTIVES (WORK IN PROGRESS)

• Epidemiology of Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy (presented by region –

differences in epidemiology based on where you live and potential reasons for

difference)

• Definitions, classification, symptoms and diagnosis: hypertension in pregnancy

(gestational or pregnancy induced, chronic), proteinuria, pre-eclampsia,

eclampsia

• Pathogenesis and pathology: causes and risk factors

• Management of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (investigators and

maternal/fetal monitoring, high/middle/low-resource variation, modalities of

management)

• Prevention of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy

• Functioning in a health care system: health care providers’ roles and

responsibilities in the care of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy
