• 250+ people; 100+ organizations; 23 countries; 3 days• 27 case studies were given exhibit space • Panels w/ 30 “regional experts”; experts also commented on workshops where practitioners shared experiences • “Negotiation tables” were used to facilitate exchanges and collaboration • Lessons emerging on slum upgrading, community empowerment, private sector integration, public sector facilitating policies—happening throughout LAC•WUF in Medellin, Colombia in 2014; perhaps next Forum as well

DRR points identified:

• Recognition of urban dimension of current & future disasters• Adequate housing vital to reduction of vulnerability• Sound national policies needed to support production low-income housing; key to social/economic development models• Reconstruction policies should have vulnerability reduction at its core• Agencies privileged to transfer capacity to affected populations; their inclusion in all stages of program is essential
