This trend continued in 2012-13 because of thehard work of our student-athletes, dedication of our coaches, and incredible support by our athletic staff and support teams all working towards one commongoal! Not to mention Green & Gold PRIDE! In addition, I would like to sincerelythank the many areas of our campus that support DC varsity athletics: the printshop, IT services, facilities, health services, athletic therapy, student services, registrar's office, admission & recruitment, grounds maintenance, financial aid office, residence, media services, campus safety and security, aramark, faculty, photo ID, senior administration and the Student Association. Without all of thisteam like support, DC athletics would not be as successful as it is.
We continue to attract top student-athletes from across Ontario and beyond andwe continue to boast one of the best coaching staffs in the country. All thismakes up the amazing recipe for success that Durham College has enjoyed forover 40 years. For those of you graduating this spring, we wish you all greatsuccess in your future and we ask you to stay close to the Lords Family throughAlumni events, special events, website and social media. WOMEN’S SOCCERInitially receiving this position I knew that I proved tomyself, to my team mates and to my coaches that myfirst year of hard work and dedication paid off. Withhaving "big cleats" to fill from the previous outstanding captain Jennifer Lynne, I knew keepingthe same momentum was important. From that timeuntil now I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to lead such a rewarding group of players. They all bringsomething different to the field that contributes to make this teamvaluable as a whole. I would like to say thank you to both coachesand players as they imprinted another set of standout memories that remind me aside from the discipline and battles, the passion and enjoyment of the sport never dissipates.

MEN’S SOCCERThe position of captain is a great responsibility and abig trust factor. The player's know that they can cometo me with any problems that they have and I canpass them on to the coaches. The coaches know thatthey can always turn to me when a big play needs tohappen in the game to change the tempo of thegame to our benefit.
I am truly truly honored to be captain of such a great team. Each andevery player on the team deserves credit for our outstanding season thisyear. I am really blessed to be on a team that wants to work hard to benefit not only ourselves but as a team in general.Duncan Mitchell2012-13 Team Captain

WOMEN’S BASKETBALLAs the captain of the Women’s Basketball Team this positions means agreat deal to me. I need to be on top of everything both athletically and academically. I need to be able to communicate and motivate everyone onthe team to work hard and play harder. Also I need to reinforce to playersthat basketball is a team sport and when playing as a team we can accomplish so much more. This season was a tough year, but I know thisteam will bounce back and work a lot harder to have a better outcome nextyear. I’ve enjoyed meeting the new additional players and I’ve made friendships that will last a life time. I want to thank all the players that madeit an enjoyable season even with our outcome. Moreover, I wantto thank the coaching staff, Tim Baulk, Andrew Ilkiw, and Erin Emery, for all their hard work and dedication. Next season weare working to come out on top and next year’s seasonstarts now. And with the dedication and determination we will achieve our goal. WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALLBeing the team captain is rewarding. I am there to show the new players the ways of our team, to support and encourage each memberthroughout the year, to be someone that the girls can look up to andlook to for advice and to ultimately watch the girls grow individuallyand come together as a family and team.
It was a great pleasure playing with you all this year! I am so proud ofwhat we as a team came together to accomplish! I couldn't have asked for a better group of ladies to share this experience with.Natasha Jakovljevic2012-13 Team Captain

MEN’S VOLLEYBALLThroughout my years with the Durham Lords men’s volleyball team Ihave met so many people and have created bonds with each andevery one of them. It has been the same way each year; everyonecomes together to try and reach the main goal. This year was no different everyone meshed on and off the court and came together tobe the team that we were. (Beast in the East) When it came time toplay we left it all on the court and I wouldn’t change anything if Icould, love you guys. I hope it continues into the future. I would alsolike to say a thank you to the coaches, trainers and Durham College staff to make this possible. We couldn’t have accomplished what we did without you.
