Who are we?The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)*One of the largest student-run organizations in the country.Chapters consist of pre-college, collegiate and alumni members.We are located in the U.S., Asia, Canada, Africa, England and the Caribbean. The U.S. chapters are divided geographically into six regions: We are the Mother Region IV!
Why NSBE?In the late 1960's, a devastating 80 percent of black freshmen entering the engineering program dropped out.
NSBE is a student org helping to improve the recruitment and retention of black engineering students.
Founding History
Founded in 1975 at Purdue Univ. in West Lafayette, INFounders: Anthony Harris, Brian Harris, Stanley L. Kirtley, John W. Logan, Jr., Edward A. Coleman and George A. Smith
The MissionTo increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.
