Problem 1:•a jeweler used 7/12 ounces of gold to make a ring and 11/12 ounces of gold to make a pair of earrings.

Problem 1:•how many ounces of gold did the jeweler use?

•1 ½ ounces

Problem 2:•a jeweler used 7/8 ounces of silver to make a ring. Then he made a second ring that is made of 3/8 ounces.

Problem 2:•How many total ounces of silver did the jeweler use?

•1 ¼ ounces

Problem 3:•3 states produce 7/12 of the gold in the U.S. each year. 7 other states produce 3/12 of the gold.

Problem 3:•what fraction of the gold produced in the US each year comes from these 10 states?

•5/6 of the gold

Problem 4 :• Juan & Matt walked around the camp. They walked 3/10 of a mile from the picnic area. Then they walked 7/10 of a mile.

Problem 4 :•How far did they walk in all?

•1 mile
