It seems like the months are flying by. Already in July and getting ready to head for Indianapolis and the Elks National Convention. Hopefully I’ll bring back some good news for the Lodge.
Check your calendar for upcoming events. We will be opened on the 4th of July, so come on in, play some bingo from 3pm till 5pm, and then go enjoy the fireworks. We’re going to have another lodge clean-up on July 25th starting at 9am, so put on your work clothes and help beautify the lodge.
July 18th is the fish fry with karaoke. Come on in and show off your great singing voice and you may just win a price.
Fraternally Yours,
Michael Rodriguez
This Elk has been around the Lodge many years. Always volunteering his time to help in the kitchen, lounge and any where else that he’s needed. He took on the task of hall rental manager and he’s being doing a great job. It’s my pleasure to name Mark Menz Elk of the Month.

From theSecretary’s
Desk: Is it really July!!!! 6 months into 2015 and three months into the Elks fiscal year!
Did you pay your dues?? Pete Cattabriga is making reminder phone calls. We don’t want to lose you. So if you forgot, let us know, if you are on the fence about renewing, let us know, if you are having hard times financially, let us know. We are here for you.
We are continuing to add new members every month. Come join us at the next initiation to show your support to the new members! We hold initiation on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Mark your calendars now so you don’t forget. This is a great time for the Committee Chairperson to come see the talent joining the lodge and sign them up for your committee.
Reach out to your friends to join the lodge. Carol Eaton is winning the race right now but you can still beat her by signing up new members! The competition is ON!
During the month of May the State held their convention in Orlando. Mike Rodriquez, Carol and Jim Eaton and I attended. So did another member, Cindy Hoeppner. District Deputy PER Howard Greenstein and his wife Wendy (also a PER) were there along with Special Rep., GER Tom Tomason. Meeting Elks from other lodges in the State and learning what they do was a lot of fun, as well as, informative.
DID YOU KNOW…Delray Beach Elks Lodge 1770 won first place in our division for the scrapbook contest. DID YOU KNOW we have a scrapbook? Take a look at it; Carol Eaton has done a wonderful job putting it together every year.
June was the month for the Kevin Knight Golf Tournament. What a fun day it was for everyone. Did you know that the Exalted Ruler from the Boca Raton lodge played in our tournament? We do have the BEST lodge! Also participating in the tournament was new member James Engemann along with regular members and Elk supporters. Thanks go out to Brian Murray, Mary and Madison Hall and Pat Rizzo for serving the wonderful lunch. We were also blessed with a lot of wonderful volunteers at the course. Did you see the plaque on Hole 4 for Neil Aubrey? Heartwarming – To our absent member!

ANNUAL KEVIN KNIGHT MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
It was a rainy night on Saturday before the Kevin Knight Memorial Golf Tournament. Yet Sunday was as dry as can be, and we know why. Thank you, Kevin. 120 golfers enjoyed the beautiful day and all the amenities that go with it.
It was a sad fact that Neil Aubrey, who ran the 4th Hole for many years, was not with us. His memory was preserved with a memorial plac placed at the shed on the 4th Hole to commemorate his years of dedication. We will miss him greatly.
The champs were dethroned. This year’s winners of the A Flight were Ed, Chris, Shane Siska and Kathy Stormont. The grand prize and trophy of this tournament is The Shoe which was
won by Dorene Tyson.
A delicious lunch, provided by Mississippi Sweets, was served back at the Lodge. And numerous door prizes were given away to end a gorgeous day.
