Importance of Our Choices
This life is full of uncertainty. There are many choices we can make that will have a direct impact on ourselves, our spouses, our children, our friends, and even our acquaintances. The fact of the matter is that we do not know which choice will end up affecting our lives in a drastic way, whether good or ill. When we reflect on all the things people have done this past year alone, one question arises in my mind…What was the most significant action someone did to affect my life? Maybe asked another way...What was the most significant thing I did this year to affect another? Have my actions affected others? How many people have been affected by the way I have been living?
My Mom told me when I was younger that my siblings weren’t making me mad, but I was letting them make me mad. This changed my attitude drastically because we, in fact, are in control of the choices we make, the attitude we exhibit and the disposition we adopt. If you look back and with clarity realize that this past year was predominately about you...You missed the point! You missed the point of life, of family, of love, and most importantly, of Christ. When we forget the over-arching influence Christ has in our lives, it will be difficult to share him with others; however, when we realize what a blessing it is to live each day in light of divine providence, then we can influence people for good all around us each day. I pray that this next year we strive to look at the good God has done for us so that we might walk more closely with him. I also pray we take the time to teach others the truth of the Gospel as it is in Christ so they can come to a knowledge of Him and the certainty of his promises for us, both in this life and the next.
As this year draws to a close, we might give an accounting of many of the choices we have made. Are there decisions this past year that we’d like to change? Are there some that would remain the same? How many of those choices are predicated on building a relationship with God? The greatest choice ever made was for Christ to offer himself for us. Do we realize the importance of the choice we must make – to live in light of that sacrifice each day?

Family Challenge: Name the Beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.
Thank You to all who contributed money for the children at the campus of the Children’s Home and Bible School in Panama to go Holiday Shopping in early December. The great love you have shown is greatly appreciated. God has been glorified by your generous spirit and giving hearts.
