STEPS FOR CREATING PICTURE AND VIDEO SUPPORTS

• (1) Determine the participants who need intervention. • (2) Identify the tasks that should be targeted for

intervention. • (3) Determine the settings in which the tasks will be

performed. • (4) Develop a task analysis for each task designated

for intervention. • (5) Assess the participant on their current

performance of the task • (6) Determine the technology that the participant will

use for self-prompting.

• (7) Record the prompts on the device by recording a prompt for each major task analysis step.• (8) Train the participant on the use of the device

and self-prompting system to a specified criterion. • (9) Have the participant use the device to self-

prompt completion of daily living tasks identified for intervention.• (10) Adjust prompts as needed by clustering or

chunking them.• (11) Assess maintenance and generalization.
