The UK is currently on track to meet the 2nd carbon budget (2013-17) relatively easily

However, there is a growing policy gap as we approach the 4th carbon budget (2023-27)

In Wales, emissions have been increasing, unlike in the rest of the UK
• Industry emissions increased by 28%, almost all from Port Talbot. • Power sector emissions also rose by 8.4% due to a switch to more coal-fired
generation
