Our tiered approach to leadership development offers a comprehensive
training program to emerging law enforcement leaders. Completing all
four levels of LEIC’s leadership training results in a “Certification of Law
Enforcement Leadership”.

First Line Supervision - 3 Day CourseThis three day course will help prepare first line supervisors for the transition from team member to team leader.• Identify the eight roles of effective leadership• Develop communication skills and motivation techniques to ensure team effectiveness• Identify strategies to coach problem employees for improved work performance• Discuss legal issues• Develop a project management mindset
Advanced Leadership - 3 Day CourseThis three day course will help the mid-level leader gain a better understanding of his/her leadership style. • Learn the planning and decision making skills necessary to lead organizational change
and transformation• Identify ways to avoid destructive group thinking by using effective conflict
resolution techniques• Utilize strategies to a positive work environment to help with officers’ emotional survival• Analyze the dynamics involved in leading a work environment that contains
four generations
Command Level Leadership - 3 Day CourseThis three day course is geared toward senior supervisory personnel.• Craft a mission and vision for organizational effectiveness• Emphasize ethical leadership by example• Utilize budgeting techniques • Create a culture of accountability

SOUTHEASTERN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Interactive instruction from top law enforcement personnel is just part of the five-week
Southeastern Leadership Academy, formerly the Southeastern Command and
Leadership Academy.
Each week will focus around themed lessons: Foundations of Leadership/Leading Others, Leadership
Skills, Building External Relationships, Employee/Internal Matters and Critical Issues. The academy,
which is targeted toward middle management, will challenge participants to develop their
leadership styles in order to become more effective and progressive leaders.
This project is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and
Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs.

Justice Assistance
• Hands-on training in evidence identification, collection, and preservation
• State of the art facilities include smart classroom, multi-station
laboratory, photography room, experiment room, and Outdoor
Forensic Training Center
• Recognized by the IAI as providing necessary training required for the
four level of crime scene certification
• Winner of the August Vollmer Excellence in Forensic Science Award

Firearms Simulator
The LEIC’s 300 degree firearms simulator provides
realistic scenarios that enables us to conduct use of
force decision making training including de-escalation
techniques. The simulator also enables us to engage
participants in scenarios that will assist them in the
investigation and re-construction of shooting scenes.
