It was the first standard for color TV and it started in the US in 1953

It is used by many countries on the American and Asian continents

It runs on 525 lines/frame Requires a 60hz power grid

NTSC standard

Stared in Europe in the 1960’s Has a wider channel bandwidth than the

NTSC standard Runs on 625lines/frame Requires a 50hz power grid

PAL standard

Used mainly by France and was introduced around the same time as the PAL standard

Similar to PAL but transmits color sequentially

Most countries that use this format also use PAL

SECAM standard
