Metal oxide layerd silicate nanoparticles can remove organic pollutants in water. There are two factors resulting in the removal of organic pollutants, the adsorption of pollutants on to the metal oxide layerd silicate nanoparticles and the photocatalytic degradation under suitable UV irradiation. In this research, metal oxide layerd silicate nanoparticles TiO2 montmorillonite and ZnO montmorillonite nanoparticles were prepared by heterocoagulation

method at various mass ratio of metal oxide. The finished samples were characterized by various techniques such as X-ray diffraction XRD , Transmission electron microscopy TEM and Gas adsorption analysis. Then the prepared samples were tested using methylene blue photocatalytic properties which characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy UV-Vis . 33% TiO2 montmorillonite and 33% ZnO montmorillonite calcined 500 °C nanoparticles were found to exhibit the highest photocatalytic properties and almost 100% of methylene blue removal. Besides TiO2 layered silicate PLA composites were prepared to study the photocatalytic degradation properties of PLA. The test pieces of TiO2-PILCs PLA composite showed smaller photocatalytic deterioration than the TiO2 anatase PLA composite. Thus, the TiO2-PILCs PLA composite showed excellent prevention of photocatalytic deterioration.
